Stud farm i could have a mcconnelsr460 or a bomford4600. Any advice on whats best.

i drive both, Bomford at home, McConnell at work, nothing much in it really, ask if you want to know anything specific, neither make a fantastic finish on gallops though. They tend to be better cutting thicker rougher grasses. The blades are very chunky. I have other toppers for a fine finish. Not sure what grass you are cutting. Big positive is they do cover the area very quickly.

Thanks for that, it for paddock work only. the managers are more concerned about the paddocks not getting to high so it looks a mess when I've finished.

Don’t rule out spearhead as they are all made by the same manufacturer essentially. Alamo own all 3 brands.

The one’s I’ve seen on a big stud farm not far from you were all spearhead if I remember correctly

One of our other departments had a big spearhead and after 2 years it was uneconomical to repair.

I would recommend spearhead. I do sell them, won’t give you a sales pitch but they are much more invested in the market (McConnel and bomford do a lot of other things) they have better options with the six blades per rotor and other options.

Also they keep the second hand value very well.

Have you had a look at the Razorback RT500 or RT750 both mowers are able to have harrows attached if you needed to lift the thatching at a later date in the paddocks.
