For towing get yourself a snatch rope where I go and help out they’ve got quite a few now on the tractors brilliant bit of kit.
you can get them from Spalding

Snatch/kenetic ropes can be very effective, but you need to be sure that what they are attached to isn't going to break.

Fortunately I haven't seen any injuries from them first hands, but have witnessed a few near misses where chunks of one vehicle have been ripped off and catapulted into the other.

You're doing it wrong then , pulled hundreds of machines out with a chain

No kinetic energy
Chap killed locally a few years ago. Went to help a neighbour stuck drilling. Chain went through back window and hit him in the head. Got a proper strap here now .

A friend has just contacted me for advice on this very subject.
he was using his John Deere tractor help out a stranger tow a tank lorry away yesterday.
sadly the chain snapped
The chain is only 2 weeks old .
will the Mutual pay out for loss of salvage?

Never use metal shackles as advertised above on a kinetic rope for recovery. Soft shackles only!
Thanks for that.(y) learn something new every day.
Tb totally honest I n ever knew of such a things as soft shackles, but they look a good idea and could also be used with strops for lifting bits and bobs around to save spoiling paintwork/ causing damage

Along with ropes and straps they would be softer and lighter to carry around ... for emergency use ...
