a message on the local watch groups yesterday that the police have seen an increase in thefts targeting Toyota hilux nationally.
They recommend additional security measures.
We have 2 so that's the insurance going up.

Looks like where they spun the wheels as they tried to reverse out from where they ran out of grip going forwards.
See the little rut running forward from where they got stuck?

Mate had his 2023 Hilux take from his drive not so long ago and hasn’t been recovered. No forced entry just drove it away! There’s a lot to be said for the keyless starting bollox!!!

Keyless entry seams to be a possible problem.
Keep your keys in your pocket and press the button on the handle.
Apparently a length of copper wire near to the key fob and then near to the car can cause the doors to unlock. On some vehicles.

Keyless is just an example of tech for techs sake. I can’t stand it personally; nowhere to put the key in the car means they rattle about in the coin tray, or fall down the side of the passenger seat or get left behind in the wrong jacket. Just a pain the arse, and then some little scrote with a laptop and a £50 eBay device can nick the bloody thing out the yard, really makes you wonder at the intelligence of some engineers.

It’s so easy
Brother-in-law had his RR stolen in 2016
The dogs started barking before he got to the window to see what was going on the RR was going down the driveway
This was in broad daylight in the afternoon he reckoned it took less than a minute, and it was gone.
He replaced it with another model and had a few more gadgets fitted. Then in November 2023 he bought the new model within three days. It was gone before he could fitting his gadgets to it .

Mine was stolen 2 years ago last month. Guys were in and away in about 20 seconds. It was taken straight over the border. Police told me it was definitely a pro job, stolen to order, they probably scouted the place out beforehand as they avoided all the cameras.
