Tractors holding value

Currently running JD tractors and thinking about a breed change. I'm just wondering what will hold they're value the best at 5 yrs old 6000 hours. Case cvx NH auto command or the vario valtra? All are to be equivalent to JD 6215R. Thanks

Best to just look at second hand values of tractors that age, hours with same transmission.

My guess would be Case, Valtra, NH.

Even though case and nh almost identical.

Aye thanks. It's not that easy to check 2nd hand values as most dealers tend not to state the price on the adverts.

Out of the 3 you listed Valtra would be the best bet especially with their huge increase in popularity with the new models and their top level build quality. CNH & Case are substantially cheaper to buy than most makes but when you compare them to Deere, Valtra etc you can see why! The best option would be Fendt. If you're buying new though and putting a lot of hours on them the brand you like the most and dealer back up is the most important thing. I never buy on resale at all just what I like and think is the best. Have run New Hollands for decades here but just took delivery of a new Valtra with their Vario gearbox, over the moon with it.

From what the salesmen are saying I think the valtra is going to be the cheapest

They will all haemorrhage money at similar rates. If you work on depreciation rates of about £10/hr then other things like tyres and servicing will vary a bit depending on work, area etc. We ran NH and found they were the worst for loosing money but the Fendt wasn't far behind which is mainly due to large purchase price masking the high second hand value. We unlocked that second hand value by changing make which is the only way Fendt look better second hand value but you can only do this once. To go from any other make to Fendt is expensive. of the makes you have mentioned I would go for what you want to spend a day in first, because other wise you won't be happy with it regardless of the financial side of things.

What model valtra are you comparing to the NH , I have a t254 which is a fantastic tractor to work , very good on fuel and loves hard work , I've seen NH doing the same work and the pressure came on they were allergic to it, the local NH dealer has a new workshop full of split nearly new tractors and a Q outside waiting to get in.

Our local Valtra dealer has finished with Valtra and gone to NH I don't know the ins and outs of it but he isn't quite as positive as you about Valtra. We spent around 18 months trying to get a Valtra t series Direct on demo and failed so they aren't the greatest company in my eyes ether.

Valtra probably dropped him for some reason , I've never heard of a good valtra dealer dropping valtra, the new nh tractors especially the t7200 are a chocolate tractor , the Nh dealers over sell them as a 200 hp tractor when they are really only a 150 hp boosted up , the back ends and brakes are not made for 200 hp and are giving endless trouble. I know a lot of contractors who are very disappointed with them having got great service from older models .

We ran a T7.200 and never had the problems you are talking about. As a tractor the 200 was great but I knew it was 150 hp not 200hp sometime people need to do their own research but it can be confusing to the layperson or the lazy. The dealer was selling more than the UK average market share so not a bad dealer.
