Trailer reversing lights

Looked at a new trailer recently that was fitted with led lights that came on when the body was tipped.
Just wondering if anyone does a kit to retro fit to an existing trailer, shouldn’t involve anything too technical other than some sort of switch that would switch on/off as the body was raised/lowered.
Also I believe they were powered through the side light circuit, I know leds don’t use much power but would a standard side light circuit be up to the extra draw on power both on tractor and trailer side?

@utvproducts do you do such a thing?

Easy enough to do your self friend did it took power from rear flashing light to power reverse lights .switch that took power from one to the other when raised slightly

we had tractors and trailers that worked in a query and used to have to fit them with body-up warning lights and buzzers. and used a switch like this that worked well.

the reversing lights and backup lights were worked by the same switch that got activated by the same switch but fitted in the shuttle shroud near the steering wheel.
If I remember we used the fog light wire (blue) in the 7 pin plug to power reversing lights

I did it through the blue fog light wire on 7 core cable,
That wire is dead on agricultural stuff, I fitted a switch in cab, a warning light on it, tapped a blue wire into back of 7 pin socket on tractor, pick up the blue wire at the back of trailer to led lamps on back,
Independent of everything, on and off as you want

Ok no problem was going to say if you have Massey's most are pre wired from shuttle to number 2 pin in 7 pin socket for reversing lights just add the right relay in the fuse board .
My 4 series Valtra you can set the rear work lights to come on when you put shuttle in reverse would think you could tap into that for trailer to

Mainly Massey not sure if most of them would be modern enough, 6200’s and 7480
Newest tractor is a Case which don’t seem to be as sophisticated with small features like that but maybe someone knows different

All masseys from 6400/7400 series right to present day if fitted with datatronic screen with reversing camera options have the fog light pin prewired for reversing lights.
and the ones who dont have a datatronic screen in its just a relay needed to activate it.
why all breeds dont do this ive no idea?

I just meant on wiring diagrams they call the blue wire fog lights.

think before we adapted it was permanent power which would be good for your purpose. A test light will be worth a try to see what it has.

I’m aware of the official purpose of the blue wire but haven’t a clue if there is power to it on my tractors.
I’m sure the new trailer I looked at with reversing lights they were powered through the side light circuit though, at least that’s what I thought the salesman said so at night when your lights are on , a switch on the trailer switches the reversing lights on as soon as the trailer is raised.
I haven’t bought a new trailer and at 1k extra would struggle to justify them if I did but some relatively cheap LED’s, a switch and some wire might just be worthwhile

Interesting, not seen that way to activate the lights. Yes, I think it would be cheaper to fit them yourself. But what we do with the tractor and trailers it would be no good. Where we work you can't run with the body up even a little pulse you'd have the buzzer and flashing light going in the cab as you reverse. But I see for same as a silow trailer carting grass it would be a fine and easy way to do it. If the blue was powered you could use that power for the reversing lights I've seen people put flashing lights on the back of tankers or trailers wired into the side lights if that's ok then your reversing lights should be.

Some trailers now the body has to be tipped a bit before the hydraulic tailgate will open, so it’s not uncommon to see trailers backing with the body raised a bit.
Plus as I’ve said, if not using dedicated tractors running on the sodelight circuit with the trailers tipped slightly means reversing lights can be used on any tractor.
Probably better ways to do it with dedicated tractors

id personally do it with a pressure switch on the tipper pipe.
Just T it into the tipper pipe and if there is pressure in the pipe, the lights would be on.
As above, id swap existing side lights to LED to reduce current draw to give you some spare for the reversing lights.
The tractor shoul dbe able to rung traditional sidelights on a couple of trailers simoultaneously, so some LED reversing lights on one would be fine IMO

Just been looking in the fuse box on my 7480 and d no relay in the reverse light slot so popped 1 in,think I got power on pin2 on the trailer socket

I seen a 7726 do this but dont think its possible on the 7400?

you not got Datatronic3 screen in yours? obly those that had the reverse camera version of these had the relay in from factory in seems !
Nowt stopping you running 2 x 55w halogens on that pin now !! all of mine are LEDs fed off it now tho.

A man has pleaded guilty at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court to waste offences relating to a bonfire next to the electrical sub-station on the Circular Road in Newtownards, Co. Down.

Gareth Gill (51) of Abbot’s Walk, Newtownards pleaded guilty to two charges under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, for which he was fined £150 each and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy

On June 25, 2018, PSNI officers went to Gill’s yard, where they found a large amount of waste consisting of scrap wood, pallets, carpet and underlay.

Discussion with Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) officers confirmed the site...
