Probably not, but is there any correlation between rates ewes go to the ram and scanning levels?

Only ask as ewes went to rams on Thursday pm and 20% already marked.

Going to be a busy start to lambing!!

They’ll slow down hopefully, I would guess that 30% of those served in the first 2 days will repeat as the ram has just caught the end of their cycle but they probably won’t hold…

I’ve had 95% served out of 130 ewes in 17 days when single sired and scanning % was the same as the group that had 4 rams with 140 ewes.

I’ve 4 tupping groups. 2 single sired that will be swapped after first cycle. Be nice if they get to 95% in first 17 days ideally.

Happy for the main groups to go nice and steady though🤞

I don’t flush mind because outdoor I would rather them spread over 4 weeks than all in 10 days. With pens for 0.5% of the flock they need to be spread out if there are weather issues or other issues.

Have 2 tupping groups.
Single SWM ram with the 25 odd welshies. Charollais, texel and Lleyn rams with the 80 mules. Been teased this year.
Last year had a not so good lambing percentage so this year weaned lambs off alot earlier and managed my grass supply better. Ewes look (and feel) in much better body condition without any hard feed...just some high energy feed blocks for 3 weeks pre tupping.
Hope to improve performance.
Just my luck I'll have loads of triplets (non last year) all in the first 2 weeks with rain or snow lashing down and no grass.
