Our e-3120 used to be insured with our normal farm insurers until they stopped covering turbines a couple years ago. Since then is been with CNC Asset Management. Renewing this year I realised that I hadn't had the PL option on the cover last year complete oversight on my part somehow - (had been sure I had) - but asked for it to be added on the renewal. Have been told the underwriters are no longer offering it - CNC looked into it and eventually responded:
"Further to your recent enquiry below, we write to advise you that Pioneer Syndicate 1980 went into run-off in 2019, so is not accepting any new policies, but they are currently allowing renewal of existing policies provided there is no requirement for any additional cover or new sections of cover. This means that, if your insurance demands and needs have not changed since last year, you can renew your policy for a further year (or two – if applicable) with Pioneer. However if you have a requirement to add any further cover to your policy, or to effect an optional section of the policy which you have not taken out previously, this will not be possible with Pioneer."
Talked to my farm insurers but they didn't seem too keen and thought the turbine insurers should allow the option. I guess the possibility of injury etc to a member of the public is very low (although there is a footpath near it) but could be pretty nasty if something did happen. Anyone else on here in a similar situation?
