Turning off reversing sensors on a dmax when towing

They are driving me mad when reversing, is there any way to do this ? Should they be turned off when a trailer is connected like on a Land Rover ?

Although it is for fog lights, would this work for the reverse lights on your dmax. Instead of fog line, use reverse line?

On my 3rd Dmax here and I don’t think any of mine have done this, mine have all been poverty spec eiger with the camera on the rear view mirror. It beeps once when you put it in reverse and that’s it I think.

My pickup has a special 13 pin socket that has switches in it, so when trailer is on, rear fog, and sensors are disabled, assume there is a seven pin version?.

Its really down to original tow bar fitter whether he could be bothered to sort it all out.

Might also depend on whether its manufacturer or aftermarket trailer wiring loom.

You just need a vehicle specific wiring kit. It’s the 7pin relay jobies that are a pain as they don’t switch sensors off etc. I fitted one on my Audi last year from P F Jones. Took most of a day with the actual tow frame and running loom to the fuse box, identifying the correct can bus loom and connecting in plus feed from battery to the 13 pin socket etc for split charging. Car then had to be coded with VAG COM to clear three million faults off the dash and now a trailer comes up on the MMI when a plug is inserted, stop starts is disabled and electric cooking fan kicks in quicker etc.

Vag com is a brilliant tool for diagnostics and coding
