Typical political hypocrisy and stupidity

Let's build build lots of houses , except in our backyard, while we all know that politicians are two faced chancers does the government really believe that they are going to have support from communities to build these extra houses, one of their biggest pledges will without doubt fall far short , which if they had half a brain they would have known.

Another major policy was developing and financing tech jobs, companies and development yet they just cancelled a 1.3 b project to do just that..
The Tories were an absolute shambles but labour have only been in power a month and already are being shown up as brain dead

Sad thing is, I don’t suppose most will be the least bit surprised
It was time for a change, just a shame there wasn’t a better alternative

If that is true why are they cancelling these projects, I'm not sure anyone is running the country
Probably because after so many years into the project and ££££ invested it becomes undeliverable.
In Scotland we just keep taxing harder and throw more money at any particular scheme……
Edinburgh trams, ferries , Holyrood parliament etc etc……

Un westminster, I presume a politician is told if they want A and B they have to forgo X and Y

Why do you think their house building plan will fall far short?
It only needs the planning rules to be changed, as they are being, and these projects won’t be stopped by local communities objecting. They will get railroaded through despite local objections, just the same as solar farms, etc have been.

It won’t be popular with locals maybe, but no reason it can’t happen if the political will is there.

I see Cotswold District is to be allocated a 91% increase in annual house building targets, when they have only hit about 2/3 of the previous target. As in a lot of other areas, I’m not sure where the jobs will be for those extra home owners though, without encouraging more commuting.🤷‍♂️

Did you read the consultation produced this week it still says local communities will have a large say and there will be huge protests and court challenges to many sites, the newt and bat population will explode after being found on all these sites. We have a site near us allocated nine years ago for 2500 houses with schools doctors etc not a house built yet the new rules are unlikely to be in place before spring then the councils will have to identify new areas or sift through new proposals from developers, why would large house builders crash house prices by building lots of new houses, they have huge numbers already zoned but only trickle build them to keep prices up. There is the workforce to build them more probably the manufacturing capacity to make the bricks etc, that will drive up prices .
I'm not saying the plan to build more houses is needed but they are extremely naive if they think they can deliver them and how is Raynor among the others say to people you must have these houses when they have matched against them in their area.

Yes, they’ve always said they will listen to local communities (or ‘engage with stakeholders’), but if the political will is there then the plans get railroaded through.
As above, it’s already been happening with the solar farms that every local community objects to.

The stalling of the building of those 2500 homes is the sort of thing that is driving Labour’s plans. Be interesting to see if it gets going soon.

They will have to change the law to stop the legal challenges, the Stonehenge tunnel has faced years of legal challenges, and even assuming the government sticks two fingers up to the nimby's, which they should in my opinion, they still have to get the developers to actually build them and as I said previously that is far harder, as I said I support their plans but A they are hypocrites protesting against their local ones and B they don't have a clue about the realities of delivering them

Big house builders have around 1 million plots with permission granted ,they are in mo rush to build them ,costs are prohibitive,
The nimby rules will still exist ,ie about 5 different survys snd many consultations ,court case appeals etc
Cons were building around 220000 a years ,
It has been proved locally on council owned land (8 house plot ) that you cant build affordable housing for the price housing association want to pay

Many of Labours now Ministers have protested against New house building in their areas, within the year , including Rayner. Cant get better than that for this Post
I dont know were their going to get an extra 50% of Trades men. Maybe put a wanted up in Calais
And why would the house builders destroy their carefully laid out financial structure to build more and debase their returns

Richi was no leader in my opinion this one isn’t half the fella Richi was which doesn’t leave him with much to be desired.
The policies up to now moaning about the lack of money 22 bn black hole (9.4 bn of that was what she’s just spent on public sector pay rises) then to spend 25 bn in 25 days doesn’t seem to make a great deal of sense
Next step will be for them to bite the hand that’s feeding them by raising taxes for the ones that’s paying them

Happened here recently. Developer building 240 new houses of which 50 had to be housing association rentals.
Prospective tenants spat the dummy when the rentals were gwtting built because they weren’t the size or spec of the private plots. Developer w mothballed it and left. Only just finished now 5 years after the private houses.
Housing association was given an ultimatum ti accept the spec or site would be abandoned

I was surprised though this morning I watched an interview with George Osborne who said Reeves changes were what what he would have done but the problem is she’s only told us what she’s spending she hasn’t yet said who she’s going to grab it back off
One problem is the Conservatives have effectively been a caretaker government for some time at least since Richi came in as leader they haven’t really been making any decisions

The Govt, misses some very important facts about house building? All very well coming out with a statment saying, "we want 375,000 new homes to be built every year", my questions, are one whos going to build them the govt? the councils?, private large builders? Well the later will build only houses, dwellings they can sell,( they are in business for one thing only, to make money), its not that there is not the need, the real problem is that people want to buy a house/flat, of course they do, the real problem is being able to get the money/morgage to do this? Second problem all very good going on about councils building lots of social/council houses, with what, many councils are effectively banckrupt with huge loans debts, interest payments,?
