Round here no taxi driver will use supermarket fuel due to injection system issues and poor fuel economy.

100% back. Wasn't questioned at the VAT inspection last year.

Knew a guy who was called in to the VAT office for an interview, he had claimed back VAT on £9k of fuel in the most recent year using his 3 year old diesel Ford Focus and they wanted him to prove his claim.
His argument was that he drove 90,000 miles for a living ( mainly delivering urgent IBM hardware) so why would he drive for pleasure as well and anyway when he and his missus went out for personal motoring she drove them in her car.
The VAT man was satisfied.
