Hi,
I have a JCB 3CX 2002 model, I use it for moving logs into my portable timber mill and doing dirt road repairs. I’m also new to heavy machinery. Had machine 6 months.

I was hoping one of the knowledgeable folk on this great forum could offer some advise on how to diagnose the following issue.

A warning light has been on for a while.
I believe it’s the transmission. I’ve posted a photo.
It’s on when I first start the machine and remains on. I have a manual but not for this machines year and it doesn’t have the same icon. So I’m not 100% sure what it’s telling me.

I thought it could be the sensor(read they go from time to time) as machine has been functioning fine. But, the other day there was hesitation in forward gear, like transmission slip in an automatic car but was fine going in reverse. I stopped work then next day everything was fine when I started the machine and moved it a short way but I didn’t work the machine so I don’t know if it’s a problem that is temperature related.

I would like advise on how to proceed. The best process. What to check first, second, etc.

Thank you in advance for assistance.

Thanks for the reply’s. I was hoping it was the sensor but the hesitation when hot was a concern. It was not moving forward but was in reverse.
I’ll change the sensor and the filters, oil etc.
I was hoping someone could advise me what might cause the lack of power going forward when hot.
Thanks again.

Thanks for that. I’ve checked oil after warming for 10 minutes but will try again after I’ve worked it solid for a while.

Hi
I've attached a photo of a sensor below is this the one I'm looking for? I live away from where the machine is garaged so I've not tried to remove it yet and would like to purchase now. From previous research I believe it is situated on top of the transmission indicated by letter N in diagram from manual. Is this correct?
Also when draining the transmission oil the manual says to clean the strainer with a solvent but doesn't say what type of solvent. Can someone please advise what I should use.
Thanks for your help.

Is the sensor also called the "oil pressure switch"?
The diagram above is from a later model than my 2002.
I've got the correct model workshop manual now.
