Weed ID.

I have 11 acres of old sward which was badly hit by the drought following mowing last summer, now it has quite an extensive infestation of the following weed. Is this Chickweed?

Difficult to be 100% sure from photo. It is “a” chickweed but it looks to me as though it is Mouse earred Chickweed. Are the leaves hairy? If so it’s ME Chickweed rather than Common Chickweed.

I will check tomorrow but zooming in on my phone the leaves certainly look hairy to me.

There’s loads of that around here this year
I thought it was just me after applying lime last year but it’s all over town apparently
I’m hoping a good cover of early grass will strangle it out though

It’s pretty weak when the grass gets hold so unless it’s going mental everywhere I wouldn’t worry too much.

Run a chain Harrow over or an einbock type and spread some fym on it.

Docks, nettles, some type of broome grass...
