Kill joySee if @Allied Weighing can recable it? At least it will be sealed properly again then, rather than moisture potentially creeping into a bodged fix in a few months’ time and causing sporadic problems.
Solder, heat shrink, then wrap with self amalgamating tape! Bit of water pipe or similiar for bit of external protection if needed. If its clean even cut or break without any stretch I would be tempted to slide a heat shrink sleeve over , solder the wires together nicely and
Or use a joiner with glands of the same type shown in that RS link .....or a junction box ..even ..
With Plenty of weather protection might be ok , one would know for next time that s how i look at it....
Considering moving on to this type of weigher , how do you stop rats chewing these cables or doesn't it happen ?Kill joyyou sound like my Dad used too...
I've mended that box of mine, put a new on off switch in instead of the ' bubble wrap ' type crappy originalswitch. Which was already replaced once on ' warranty

no ime, they should be shielded / (metal) braided covering on them they are better than the likes of feeder/mixer wagons in the respect of the rodent problem ...Considering moving on to this type of weigher , how do you stop rats chewing these cables or doesn't it happen ?

could trutest's 'problems ' if they have any .... be the mass production of them ? made in china etc ?I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing the garbage thrown up when damp gets into a (Trutest) cable. When I want to weigh lambs, I want to get on with it now, not pee about trying to work out why the weights are all over the place, then spend time trying to sort it out.
I’m all for a bit of bodging, but sometimes the job has to work, reliably.
