Something musing as sit out orange weather warning. I need a new (2nd hand) run about. It’s basically for kid runs, matches, journeys over 10km that don’t want to sit in the defender in when her new car isn’t available and odd long run with small trailer that don’t want to go in the defender.

Have had a 3 series auto estate for this reason for over 10 years, been a brilliant car love it but want something more farm friendly for when defender breaks down. Also my sister in law was home for 6 months from the Australian outback, lent it to her she drove it like her Prado & has basically has killed it.

My only requirements is atleast 4 seats, and automatic. At the moment I’m between a 10 year old Discovery or a 2nd had electric, both for different reasons 😂 Any thoughts crew can van, pick up (I really dislike them), or just another estate but would like higher vechicle tbh

I'm into year 6 and over 125k miles wit a 2013 mitsu outlander, 4WD, 2.2 diesel, up to 7 seats depending on spec, and will pull itself through tough enough going with decent tyres. Will tow up to 2.2tons I think and is 270 to tax for the year. I've got a manual so no clue of the auto options.
One day I'll hav seats down and filled with fencing posts and wire, next day herself will hav all seats filled ferrying one of the kids ans half his team mates to a match somewhere (not a job for the 'good' car... I'd take it fencing b4 put half a dozen hyped up kids in it!!)
Had a few niggles, rear wheel bearings sent the 4wd system haywire and had to redo the turbo, but that turned out to hav been damaged by buildup of crap in the intake manifold.
Not as solid/quiet/refined as German equivalents but then not the same price either.

Lot of rav4 on farms here lately. Up to 2012 I think, older engine anyway and we have one. Great we jeep, no disco 3 but not the fuel, tax or repair bills. Enough room and handy to park.
