What’s wrong with this bucket/headstock?

The bucket started out life on a Manitou. When we swapped the manitou for a 5t Jcb and we had Jcb brackets put on it and it was fine. Put it on a smaller Jcb and it doesn’t appear to crowd back far enough, yet was fine on the 5t Jcb 🤷🏻‍♂️. On the smaller machine the only way we can fill the bucket right up is by running into the heap at higher speed. Somethings not right but it’s strange it’s worked on a Jcb before.

looks like a construction spec machine. No z linkage That your other machine may had had. Will have a lower breakout force and less crowd angle.

I'd say that's good, you can crowd bucket back as it lifts to top of cab height without fear of corn coming over the back and getting all over loader.

Yes but it spills out the front as it won’t crowd back enough. It must be the angle of the back piece of steel on the bucket? Or do we need the lug holders altering?

Very poor crowd angle on those jcbs compared to manitou. Need a bucket with backplate sloping forwards when sitting level or brackets brought out at the bottom to get the same result.

What model is this machine, and what model was the 5 ton machine. Would be useful information for others if they are hiring a machine to be aware of the differences.

A neighbour with a manitou with loadall headstock is selling his bale spike that's welded onto a vertical backplate. No one with a jcb with loadall backplate will buy it as you finish up stabbing your front tyres. :(

Pack the bottom brackets out. I had to do this on our loader bucket as previously spilt more than it loaded! I cut bottom brackets off then with it sat on the top bracket tube ratchet strapped it up to the desired angle then welded bottom brackets in place with extra packing and support.
