Fekking BT again. Got one of those BT minihub things to get broadband to the office. Seems to work. Sort of. Went out yesterday to do BCMS, VAT, BPS and other stuff: "Can't connect. Network unknown."

Solution offered: "Search online for more help."

Reset mini hub. Switched everything off. Re-linked. Used a new ethernet cable. "Can't connect." "No network." Device has an invalid IP address."

Round 2 this morning. Oh and did I mention the broadband drops out at about 8:30 every evening now. Usually just when the sh*t is about to hit the fan in whatever you're watching. :arghh::banghead:

Getting asked to go to a Whakanoa Blessing tomorrow from the local regional council:rolleyes:, just after lunch today, ffs, I've got TB testing at 9.00am, how the feck do they think I'll be ready at 10.30am?:banghead:
Guess I'll have to turn up wearing overalls, gumboots and dirty four wheeler!!!:sneaky:(y)(y):D

does the local council get blessed much
Nah , but its all the rage with the councils to have bicultural blessings prior to the comencement of any construction, bloody lucky to get an invite!!!
I did reply that we are a "multicultural" society and that at such a blessing should reflect that multicultural diversity , rather than this old fashioned bicultural BS that perpetuates as being acceptable.

Having a busy day planned....bending down to fix leaking trough first thing and BANG back goes.....3 minute walk turns into 45 minute scream filled hobble....dog walkers thinking the (already horrid farmer) has developed tourettes....then spend 15 minutes trying to get into the hire van (because suspension on truck has died). Is it too early for a pint of old rosie????

Car main dealers.
So good at having shiny shiny showrooms in the middle of cities.
So goddam poor at actual customer service and not wasting your time.

My wife's car's coming up 3 years old so she booked it in for a service/ mot at the"local" (40 miles distant) dealership, mentioning a whine/rumble at speed which wanted diagnosing, mentioning also that it might be a failing wheel bearing.
When she goes to collect it, they haven't looked at the fault and claim no knowledge of it (this speaks volumes of their customer service itself). They grudgingly take a look and say it's probably down to front tyre wear. I thought this was rubbish as I'd just put the summer wheels on the week before and the front tyres, while getting down, still had a few thousand miles in them before getting down to the wear indicators.
My wife gets new tyres on the car anyway. This makes no difference.
The car goes back to the garage for a full day (another wasted day, another 80 mile round trip), my wife again querying wheel bearings. She picks it up after hanging around all day to be told "It needs a wheel bearing... can you bring it back Thursday"...
With much gritting of teeth my wife takes it back Thursday... another wasted day and they tell her "Yeah it's no better, can you bring it back next week, probably needs a bearing on the other side too":cry:
FFS if my local (off a lane in the middle of nowhere) garage can get a wheel bearing delivered before lunchtime, whys it beyond the wit of main dealers to do likewise? I mean I know there will be little room in their service dept for actual spare parts, what with all the steel, glass, spacious tiled floors, coffee machines and plush waiting areas, but surely on the outskirts of a large city they could get an industrial unit to keep a box of wheel bearings in etc, rather than getting everyone back 2 days later for simple jobs?

I haven't put the make of my wife's car on, cos in my experience they are all as hopeless. A few years ago my wife had a little prestige brand car. She had it in the dealers for some minor bit of work and she asked them specifically to give it an oil service at the same time. At the time my wife's commute was nearly 100m a day.
The service light came on the following week.
My wife rang up to find out why they hadn't reset the service indicator to be told " yeah you told us to service it but it still had 700 miles before it needed a service so we thought we'd save you the money by not servicing it before it was due"
Thanks
Thanks very much indeed:poop:

A charming chap out walking his dog along one of our tracks. I appreciate it's a footpath, but I think he could have managed to step aside onto the grass margin to let me pass rather than carry on regardless in front of the tractor & swear at me for trying to get by. I suppose he's a customer so I just smiled back.

You'd think that they could get adhesives right after all this time - I remember when DB changed to the 11 - 13 - 14 - 16 range (1980 ?) and the bonnets were stuck together, never did hear of any problems back then but maybe someone did ?
