What it worth?

Landlord is selling a G reg john Deere 2250 and I could do with a scraper tractor. Was running about a year ago but I’m pretty sure needs a new clutch and a fair bit of cosmetic tidying. Any ideas how much it’s worth?

Depends whether it will start and run and if the hydraulics etc work..........careful you don't get wrapped up in briers when you get in it......nice project at the right money though...panels look straight enough

Was a runner a year ago as I used it to wrap some bales. That’s why I know the clutch needs doing. Has spent the last 5 years or so hooked to the wrapper and only worked the summer wrapping a 1000 or so bales. The door that is missing is there just not fitted.

Its a buyers market. offer £500. You can always go higher. Stick to your guns. Then after you have bought it, cleaned it and repaired it you will have a good tractor for the correct money. If it gets advertised then it will make silly money from someone with too much money and time to repair it

Explain how it’s a buyers market?

He is the buyer, he knows the landlord. He has first access to it. Therefore he has the upper hand. He can offer £500 or walk away. You can find out where it is then who to contact then offer £2000. Id say he has a head start.
edit, without appearing rude, you are looking at it as a sellar not a buyer

But rob, this is his land lord, any talk of the "upper hand" could well and truly come back and bite him on the a$$, if it was my one of my land lords I would try and be on the money and fair first time .

Thats fine, then offer £500 or walk away. Or tell him to sell at £2000 and help him sell it on here. Take 10% commision. I maintain its still worth £500

I’m not looking at it as either, I’m looking at it as fair to all parties. What’s the difference of this old tractor stored in the nettles to a new sower of yours stored indoors?

Perhaps what with it being a buyers market your 8k sower is worth 2k? Using your logic the buyer should swiftly walk away if you don’t accept that.

Yes, if he offered me 2k he is welcome to walk away!. Sorry, not being argumentative.

Who let's a tractor get in that state.

Can't have much pride. I'd sell something rather than leave it out with weeds growing through it. I'm a saddo, I get attached to bits of metal.

It’s still at the stage of Salvage though, a good clean up panels and doors refitted, some padding here and there and it will look fine.

A few more years sat and it won’t.
