What to charge for a favour

Suggestions please. The specialty veg grower next door who s sprayer driver is of sick have asked us to help out with our sprayer I am happy to help out if somebody is in a muddle. The problem is it can be 3 hec followed by full wash out then the same again 10 miles away and 400ltr hec. It took ten hours to do 20 hec in five fields the other day I think we can only charge by the hour where would people pitch it please?

if its a one off and to help someone out £500, if its going to repeat then as above £750. (£1000 if you dont want to do it again ) and if its your neighbor who will help you out when you need it £250!

Simple charge nothing for a favour. It's maybe not a favour your doing

Or charge the hourly O/T rate of a suitably qualified employee.

If it’s more than a one off then Send your man at hourly rate and drive the veg growers sprayer. If it’s a simple one off to help a neighbour for a favour then do it for nothing. You never know one day .........

This is some favour. He has asked you to supply a sprayer driver (hens teeth) and a sprayer, at short notice and wants you to spray speciality veg? Well I can think about about 2 dozen things that could go wrong with that kind of stunt. I would not do it for free.

Have been a couple of times so far and some more booked in for this week, we have suggested they train us up on there new sp 4000ltr. I hope they would help us out if we were in the muddle

If you think that the neighbour will help you in your hour of need then help a brother out.. you never know when you will be need a hand.. diesel and a bit of "luck" should sort the whole job.

As the recipient of the 'favour' I would want to pay a fair rate - if someone does it for nothing, you can't ask another time.
In the OP's position I would ask what seems fair to both parties
