Where’s Walter gone?

Well said. Something is afoot, I am convinced of it, we have not witnessed anything like this before and there is very little historical precedent to draw on.

My instinct is that a significant minority for a variety of reasons wish to reshape the culture of the west. That wish will (and is by evidence) intrude into every aspect of wider society and just as much personal life and freedom. That significant minority are convinced that what the west has done to get where it is today is a crime against all non-western countries and beliefs. They want that crime to be punished by tearing apart what our forebears created both physically and historically. They do not and will not tolerate a balanced view on any subject, they have created an 'ideology' that by its proposed application will right all wrongs and bring utopia about and that the end will justify the means.

This is going to be one hell of a fight, as there are the beginnings of a fightback coming from independent minded true academics, and, amazingly they are of both the left and right, and even more amazingly through deep thought and analysis they know that the left must curb the worst excesses of the right and the right must curb the excesses of the left but they recognise that they have a common enemy in that significant minority.

For those who are interested look up the podcasts from the likes of, Peter Thiel, Eric Weinstein, Stephen Pinker, Roger Scruton, Jordan Petersen, Ben Shapiro, Dave Rubin, Russ Roberts, Yuval Harari, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Patrick Deneen, Iain McGilchrist, and Jonah Goldberg and there lots of others. If you want something really fascinating to listen to then try out any of these. They are so much better than the mainstream media, and they talk long enough to really discuss the details. The mainstream media led by the beeb now merely 'essentialises' current issues which serves no use whatsoever other than for the editors to goad some whilst trying to propagate their own bias.

I think dear old Wally has like many, taken their bait hook line and sinker so it is easy for him to stir it up a bit in here. Perhaps he is re-thinking and is about to make a volte-face and reappear reborn anew?

I like Jordan Petersen and the way he utterly infuriates the media by not fitting any lazy pigeon hole stereotype. The video of him refusing to rise to Cathy Neuman on C4 is a masterclass in how to deal with a media dumbed down to the gutter.
I’ll dip my toe with some of the others next time I’m sitting in the sprayer.

Watching the Labour conference I was utterly amazed at calls for another referendum, not just on ‘the deal’ but a 2nd referendum. This from a party that constantly talks about ‘democracy’, when apparently the referendum wasn’t democratic enough that some elements want to keep asking the same question until they get the ‘right’ answer :ROFLMAO:

I'm afraid that is what is starting to happen, rather than accept with grace that they think the people got it wrong, they wish to subvert the democratic process. So imagine we had another referendum with a slightly larger percentage in favour of leaving, do you think that would shut them up or would they be more prepared to subvert democracy in order to achieve their goal, and even more worryingly if the vote was remain that would justify taking no notice of any democratic vote that doesn't go you way and just keep rejigging things till you get the result you want. Either way, we are on thin ice now.

Try these two for starters.

Maybe he’s been to the Labour Party conference in Liverpool last week and had such a good time he’s high on hedonistic political propaganda,

Exactly

So the protocol on TFF is to tag the user name and not name the member publicly .

To be fair I don’t mind for my own account

My apologies, my only excuse is my newbieism.

I still have to remember not to use actual first names for many of the TFFers I know well
