Which Cordless Drill

Is this still the best offer and drill? It has unbelievable torque. Is it much of a compromise going for 4ah batts instead of 5ah??

Its out of stock so I doubt it will be available now as new stock that comes in is likely to be the 5amp batteries with the faster charger? and priced accordingly.
There is nothing wrong with the 4amp batteries they are fine on a drill and the charger is also okay all be it a bit slower especially if you later get some 5amps. 6amp are out now I think too as well as the 9amp that came out a while ago but they are maga money.

Had a hitachi drill for 3 years still on original batteries , worked hard boring gateposts etc ! never let me down

I think nowadays it's probably better to ask which drill has the best batteries, as it's often as economic to bin the drill and buy new than replace a set of batteries. I always buy a drill with a pair of batteries, one will go on for years but the other often fails fairly quickly.

Milwaukee batteries genuine and copies are easy to get hold of tons of them listed on ebay all the time. Not maga dear either unless you want the 9amp one but thats not your ordinary battery.!

Have you tried the 9ah one? It's way too dear for me but I bet it's good in the grinder I'm just using 5.0ah ones atm

No not yet other than grinder i dont have anything that would really be worth the extra for a 9amp. I got 4 x 4amps and 2 x 5amp so never sort of a charged one anyway.

My experience with Makita has been poor battery life, bought grinder with the then standard 3ah batteries and they lasted just out of 12mth guarantee :poop:.
Worse still the new 5ah batteries are said to be incompatible with my grinder although I think they could be easily made to fit. Anyone tried despite advice to contrary, to use the 5ah batteries?
Realise this is from a few weeks ago but just seen it.
I cut out the tab to enable my 4 ah battery to fit my grinder. It was like a new tool. For 1 cut, then burned out! May have been coincidence but stopped me doing it to other tools.

Need to buy a good cordless drill, what should I get? Won’t be used every week but want it to last.

Burnt out a Dewalt far too easily in one day so I’m not inclined to get another.

Is Milwaukee the best choice?

Personally I'm all makita and highly rate the dhp481, it's makita toughest brushless model

I have a load of Makita stuff and love it, all 18 v with 5 AH batteries the circular saw is a favorite, the grinder very handy for smaller jobs but not a chop saw or in any way a replacement for a 9 inch mains one, but i would not be without it.

The chuck on the drill started jamming recently makita picked it up and had it back to me 2 days later with a new chuck fitted for no cost so good service they do a 3 year warranty but you have to register for it within 30 days of purchase , I didnt :banghead:

What ever brand you get, Milwaukee and Makita seem to be the best it is better to commit to it and get all your other tools from the same supplier rather than a mix of them as having one charger ideally with two charging points on it and 3 or 5 big AH batteries is a god send.

I also got some of the Mak pack (Makita) cases to put the grinder and circular saw in as them came loose in large bagged set , I would recommend them also you can get them with the correct insert for the tools you have so when you need something you pick up the box and a battery the other stuff you need like spare grinding / cutting discs and blade tool or cutting guide are all in the box when you get to the job you were going to use it on.
