Which tractor is the most driver friendly for a 14hr + day?

It reminds me of the older guys who did a fair bit on the old crunch box Ford 7610s or International 895s and the like. How many of em wanted to go back when their fleets were changed to 7840s or 5130s? How many wanted to go back when these were replaced with newer 8360/8560s or the 6000 JDs?

Not many, I should think.

I spent a lot of time on a 2wd 7610 around leaving school. Not a bad place to be other than the easy to loose yourself in gearbox.

I do have issues with the “older guys” statement my what I wanted to think I was on a Monday morning. I’m off to spend the day on my 724, the best tractor I’ve ever owned which is a few now I’m older 😁

an old farmer here ( in his early 80’s, also a hay baling & grain harvesting contractor back in his earlier days ) once told me the only good thing about the “good old days” was that they were gone. He certainly had no nostalgia 🤣 said it was just hard body destroying miserable work

I was taught to drive a tractor by a brilliant guy who worked for my dad and grandad for over 40 years. He had been a truck driver in Burma and Italy during WW2. One of his favourite statements was “Good old days , f@@k the good old days” he would use anything that made life less hard and simpler. He had our 1st 4wd tractor a MF 699 which was a beast.

He loved the farm so much he wanted his ashes spread on a particular spot, I always think of him when I drive past on ever more technical machines.

I really enjoyed the fendt cabs on the old 800’s. Many people complained they were small but once you were in everything was to hand and they were very comfortable. Having spent many hours in 8 series JD’s i never found them comfy, always wallowing about and seemed very nose heavy. I happily spend 14 hrs a day in the 936 cab most days and not many days i get out feeling fatigued. Do you think it’s a big improvement. I had the opportunity to drive one a few weeks ago but something came up.

ISO kit definitely the way to go, just got my 1st sprayer with it, had fertiliser spreader on ISO for a few years

its certainly a good step up

running all ISO kit now so when its properly integrated like this really creates a nice, low effort / stress working environment for an operator

there is a familiarity across iso regardless of what you have attached you don’t have to learn yet another control box

Got to agree with Clive. I would have said a magnum can from 2002 ish . But everything in fendt is on fingertips abs aircon works!

I prefer a tractor that has the best engine on the market , an engine that doesn’t die pulling a heavy load up a hill, a transmission that doesn’t die on a hill , an engine that doesn’t need rebuilding for various reasons , a tractor that costs €45 k less than a fendt , money that can be spent upgrading other machinery to improve output , a tractor that is every bit as comfortable to drive as a fendt , oh the answer is a valtra t254.

TBH the only thing I would want to sit in for 14hrs is a quadtrac.
3 reasons - smooth, smooth and er smooth.
Nothing worse than bouncing about all day.

2nd in line is Fastrac for same 3 reasons.
I guess anything on duals all round might not be too bad..

Valtra have the best most trouble free air suspension system On the market with no grease nipples .
Find ours quite disappointing,254 has axle and cab air suspension plus fitted with Evo seat, not any better in fact probably worse than our 214 on air front axle but sprung cab and standard air seat, disappointed with the 254 as we were told it would be near fastrac ride,it's not!

Your absolutely right, fastrac is in another league. In fact the ride in a Massey 7720s is superior to the valtra. I kept my valtra for 5 months nothing short of disappointed.

I was told air front and cab and Evo seat are to much they work against each other
