Who can tell me about JD459

I’ve got an immaculate late 459 that’s gone out of time for previous owner. Going to need needles and frame plus both knotters frames. And probably other bits by time it’s done.
I’ve bought another 459 with the intention of it becoming a donor but really it’s a bit too tidy to break.

So my question is will any JD baler do as a donor (456 etc) or would it need to be a 459?

the donor is 1987 I think and newer one 2002. I was surprised they were made over that length of time

Go on john deere parts advisor online, you can get part numbers and cross reference between the models.

Thanks. I may look for a rotten 456 then. 459 don’t a bit too good to break
There's a lovely 459 next door that's suffered the same fate as yours else I'd put you in touch...a new knotter is a mere £2800, needle frame not so bad at £800. No idea how bad your needles are but you can press them straight from some fair angles if you have a good one as a pattern.

I’m going to say they are just beyond pressing straight

At those prices a donor baler is a no brainier

Try baler spares, we needed a new sweeper arm for ours and a few other little bits and pieces.
The lad that looked after it ordered the bits from the dealer. When it was delivered the delivery sheet had the prices on think the bare arm was over 500 then with the other bits on top it was nearly 1000.
Got everything we needed from baler spares for 350
