After a very long winded engine rebuild, it's back earning it's keep.

B&b pigmans old 856 lives again.
It's had a good workout on the flail so should bed in nicely.
New turbo.
Recon injection pump and injectors.
Head rebuild.
New pistons etc.
She's good as new in the engine.
Still a few oil leaks under the back end to sort one day but a work in progress.

spent a summer in the borders of Scotland as a demo driver for IH and Claas. Found memories of taking a 956xl from farm to farm with a 4 furrow rev plough on the back.

Nice set up.

But those Bettinson dual wheels want setting fire to, then cut up with a gas axe, and the bits dropped in the sea. They're the work of the devil, horrible leprous things...

Next time we come up your way will bring you a small pair of bettisons , 🤭 make a fire pit bbq out of them , but cut tyres off first or the smoked taste will be different

Were you ever in the Alnwick area mid Northumberland 🤔
B H Browns was the dealer, later became Rickerbys.
Or just borders what would have been Rutherfords at the time

I was based at East Linton. Just if the A1. Think it’s Rose and Sons now.

Rented a room on a farm just north of Haddington. Can’t remember the name, possibly Newmains.

Remember some long nights in a pub at Haddington 😂

Had the pleasure of driving a Claas Dominator 108sl from there to just north of Dunfermlin one Friday, police escort made me drive through Edinburgh!!

I had a pair of 3 point fixing ones, the sodding things kept coming off.

It's ancient history now but the farm steward clipped his IH955 on the kerb outside the pub, and only noticed the loose Bettinson dual when it overtook him as it accelerated down the long hill that is the main street in the village, thumping into the house at the T junction 200 yards away like Barnes Wallace's bouncing bomb...
