Strange how bankers got the blame for getting most of the world into a completemess while making themselves fortunes yet now some say they are leaving london remainers are in meltdown about how important they are

Sorry to hear that, hope she recovered.

I thought you had found a legit way by which ex-pats could use the NHS. I would envisage having to make some payment if you had. Not that I have complaints about here. A kidney stone at Easter 2015 had me in hospital for 5 days, and the treatment, staff and most importantly, food were all excellent - and free, but some things are easier explained (both ways) by natural English speakers.

I have heard of people from here and Spain who used a fake UK address and got it free, but I think that is more than "rather naughty". Similarly with continuing to use their UK vehicle. I do not know anybody personally, but I have seen the occasional car/4wd that I suspect has not been driven here in recent times. Apparently it is a big problem in the Algarve and the police do take action from time to time. The car is impounded of course. The vehicles cannot be MoT'd or insured - a false residence would need to be declared to the insurer (if any), which I assume would make it invalid. There would be no MoT equivalent or road tax equivalent either. Heavy fines.

The car thing sounds about the same as here. I did hear at one time that the French were supposedly happy to let a UK car keep it's reg number, but I don't know if anything came of it.

UK registrations could not be used here. Six letters/numbers in 3 pairs - two letters (which can appear in any postion) and four numbers. There are no deviations. I rathe rliked the Australian registration system when I was there - almost anything that could fit on a number plate. There was a plumber in Camden, NSW with H2 0, and I was beaten to EIEIO by one Bill McDonald a solicitor in Sydney. People obviously used there own initials too, and the classics from the original UK style numbers. A1 was still in use and I knew the person who had A+ (Iforget the actual number, but single digit). I suppose they had a value.

A quick update for all you funsters on here.

The one relative on palliative care is pretty good. Another died. House cleared and mostly shipped to Canada. Another relative who was super fit had a sudden stroke and is now brain dead. As they've donated all their organs they're still on life support until after Easter.

Oh and the reason we prefer the EU is that it lets Parliaments that vote for a referendum hold them. Mays UK doesn't.

Yes and if the answer isn't what they want they make you go again and again till the answer suits them

Promise, promise, promise:

2014 we were told "vote no, it's the only way to stay in EU"....amongst other unionist lies.

Now things have changed big time and because of that we will have another referendum.

Don't remember being told that - remember the SNP's assurances that an Independent Scotland WOULD be able to stay in Europe despite Europe's clear reluctance to allow it.

I remember too that it was likely that things would soon come to the crunch as to whether Britain as a whole stayed in Europe - though the powers-that-be were so sure any vote would be Remain, that it wasn't properly discussed.

i can also remember Farage trying to give a talk up here and being driven out by a thuggish mob, seemingly with SNP support, as a racist. I thought at the time that that was a bit disturbing, that mob rule was allowed to take over in this way, even if he was a racist; really he should be allowed to put his arguments forward so that in this democracy, they could be countered. I didn't realise, not having heard him speak for himself, either in person or in the media, that his agenda was not actually racist and worthy of discussion for its own sake.

The propaganda and manipulation surrounding Indyref was shameful - but it was far from one sided.

Ironically, though, I suspect that if Westminster did suggest that the only way to stay in the EU was to vote to stay in Britain, it was not being deceitful - it had no idea - none of the establishment seemed to have any idea - that Brexit was on the cards.
