Why is it unlikely we will get a vaccine? We have hundreds of thousands os people looking for this grail and no evidence they are not very close
I think we may get a vaccine that is as effective as a flu jab eventually, but no more than that. I may be a pessimist but that is my gut feeling.

No reason why we should not get one which is fully effective, the first one’s may not be but Covid is not like flu, it is not continually jumping species from man to birds to pigs etc. Every time it jumps it mutates and so we have new strains

I agree that it is not continually jumping species at the moment but it appears to have jumped from bats to humans, or has it? The Russian vaccine would appear to have been a failure but that was widely expected. Natural immunity in the longer term is still questionable and it would seem to be essential that a vaccine would have to produce immunity that at least exceeds natural immunity in order to be considered successful.

Give it 4_5 years and find be medicine for covid 19 from boots like get cold or flu medicines, in around 4 years time covid be just another virus perhaps
The medicines to which you refer currently only relieve the symptoms and are not a cure. However great strides are being made with anti-viral treatments together with suppression of secondaries and I believe that herein lies the future

That's why think might happen with covid some day that in few getting it won't be a death sentence and be medicines to easy symptoms i.e. Like cold or flu
