Why manganese?

I have read on several occasions in this forum that you apply manganese to your wheat crops at this time. What is the reason for that application? What is the role of manganese? What does it cost?
In Spain I have not heard anyone need to apply it, but of course, with our productions the same is not profitable.
Thank you

BASIS
Manganese is a very important micro nutrient involves in over 50 different plant processes including, photosynthesis, respiration, nitrogen assimilation as well as lots of other things like cell production and pollen production.

My land being very light sandy high PH is always deficient in manganese and I'll be spraying it onto crops at least once a month more or less right through the season. If I didnt I wouldn't have a crop as the deficiency is so severe in patches it would cause total crop loss.

Cost wise I buy 15% manganese sulphate liquid in 1000lt ibc at about 47p/lt and and I usually apply it at 3 lt/ha which is my usual practice. if I've got a bad deficiency I'll apply
32% powdered mnso4 at 5kg/ha with 2-3lt of liquid. The powder costs about £20 for 25kg.

I had some wheat on the brash a few years ago that just wouldn't kick on in Spring, despite N application, yellow and backward but no classic Mn deficiency signs , never even entered my head that Mn would be a factor, not being sandy etc.
Put some Mn liquid on just to see, and was amazed at resulting recovery, from which crop went on to yield normally.
Always put some on everything now with first spray pass and again at T2, I think its cheap insurance.

£0.46/litre to apply. 4 litres/ha would have kept this alive. Sandy soils and high organic matter soils are very prone to Mn deficiency. I've had clinical symptoms and low levels in tissue tests, so worth putting in the tank when going through the crop for other reasons.

Gracias por sus amables aclaraciones.
¿Podría ponerme una marca de manganeso para investigar algo similar en línea que pueda comprar en España?

I use manganese sulphate 15% solution. I can't think of any brand names - these are more expensive!

Mezclar Mn con Mg puede ser interesante. Cual es el producto?

All I can find that has both Mg and Mn in is this https://www.yara.co.uk/crop-nutrition/fertiliser/micronutrient/yaravita-gramitrel/

Thank you. I have already got an idea of what to do with this nutrient.
You can see that professional people write here and that they know what they are talking about. That's how nice

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
