As the song goes’ You’re not nineteen forever’ but in my experience you are old for a long time. So let them have a good time.
Just seen on the news a big bunch of students dancing and jumping on tables in there halls having a great old time. Yet every other Studenf was filming it on there phone . If you having to the common sense to keep quiet about a party then are you really even clever enough to qualify for university

You enter University at 18 and leave at 21 usually. Most 18 year olds have never lived away from home before and as such for the first time in their life are out of parental control so obviously for a while can do as they choose obviously by the time they’re 21 the novelty should have worn off and they should be on the way to being responsible adults. It’s the prerogative of adults to complain about the youth and no doubt God was complaining about Adams’ kids and rightly so because one of them turned out bad but all this ‘18 year olds used to fight in wars’ is nonsense 18 year olds weren’t chosen to fight because of their maturity they were chosen because they are easily led and manipulated imagine trying to lock up a gang of 30 year olds the way they have done these kids the place would be on fire and rightly so.IMO half of them aren't mature enough to be at University. This classification of being a 'teenager' now seems to span the ages from a bout 10 to 30 in many peoples eyes. Yet go back to the pre 1950's and concept of teenagers didn't even exist.
The more Universities you have the more students you need obviously they are not all going to be nuclear physicists or rocket scientists but it’s big business especially because overseas students pay a lot of money for a British degree. The problem is if everyone has a degree how do you differentiate when you are employing. However it makes no sense to me to study close to home part of going to University is experiencing new things and places. Staying at home would be mental.Tbh I think university nowerdays is just a big con for 70 % of students I have very fire friends who use there degree. It’s a massive money making scheme. I think bring backs scholarships. Also why the need to study in Bristol when you live in Newcastle ?
As an employer for many years I would personally suggest that in most cases you disregard a degree absolutely. It does show some commitment but on the flip side, what could you have learned away from university? I appreciate that some careers require such education but for most it's just another bit of life experience with no real use. But hell, they are kids. Leave them alone. Let them get on and make their own choices. Hopefully, their life is long and those 3 years may have a huge or no impact on their lives. The more Universities you have the more students you need obviously they are not all going to be nuclear physicists or rocket scientists but it’s big business especially because overseas students pay a lot of money for a British degree. You aren’t wrong if everyone has one it has no value but if you don’t have one why not.The great university con: how the British degree lost its value
Never before has Britain had so many qualified graduates. And never before have their qualifications amounted to so little.www.newstatesman.com
