Why on earth would the yanks get frustrated. Why and what would cause frustration. Surely you mean the Putin regime gets frustrated. But even then one assumes some folk within the hierarchy will say no to using a weapon with nuclear capability. More interesting to watch how the Putin regime in next few hours and days decides to capture Kiev if the Ukrainians put up resistance. In Grozny the Russians flattened the place. Maybe less easy to do in Kiev with the worlds media embedded. I am very impressed and thankful the BBC have brave staff prepared to be in Kiev. The truth will out. Unless you do not believe the BBC. But that no doubt will be another story. Hey ho.
The bbc have not made it easy for people to believe them.

I can’t watch the news anymore ,Ukraine needs help now not sodding meetings to think about things. It’s a big country ,lots of people and reserves .Putin will not stop just look at how his own people fear the law,and how quickly he shuts them up.Terrible ,terrible situation .No one wants a war ,but as the saying goes ,”bricks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”

You have a good point,I just hope it doesn’t come to that.

Many thanks for posting the above, as I have learnt something today.
Not good if all military flights can be seen .

Military aircraft (in fact any aircraft) only appear on flight 24 because they want to be seen by civil air traffic control- this relies on radar transponder data transmitted by the aircraft itself and sent back to the ground based radar 'requesting it'. Using this system an aircraft is reporting it's speed, direction and altitude data to controllers on the ground. This system has an off-switch in the cockpit.

You may think that Sir, and you are at liberty to have those thoughts, we live in a democracy. I take an alternative view. Again you and I can live peaceably in the same country. And I respect and wish for a system where we can both express our views and disagreements openly. By the way those pigs look good. Keep posting the piccies. Cheers.

If it is, not going to be secretive if showing up on a flight tracker website which us lot can look at. :banghead:
I hope your security systems are better than that !!!!!
The data on the likes of Flight radar is based on the ADS-B & MLAT, which mostly comes from the aircraft itself, very little comes from true radar. If you are flying over friendly territory then you tend to transmit the data to avoid running into an easyJet flight to Ibiza, obviously in in proximity to war zones you tend to switch off the transmitters if you don't want to be detected...

I would imagine, at this stage, they need to be able to prove exactly where they are at all times.

In case the Russians start claiming they came over the border...

Russian radar is a bit more sophisticated than (and don't rely on) using open source flight tracking websites which require an aircraft's transponder and ground based receivers.

I suspect, that these transponders are left on deliberately, as a show reassurance/confirmation (and political gesturing) to those inside Ukraine that they are not entirely alone; and the west is doing what it can, without risking escalating to a wider and more drastic conflict.

Those BTRs are an ancient design and a fudging death trap.
The latest version is a lot better than the old design & has increased crew protection, but still a tin box full of potential bodies vulnerable to molotov attacks. They're particularly good at traversing rough ground and improvised roadblocks at speed (due to the 8x8 drive train) whilst rattling the occupants to pieces.

The interior of the ones they examined on film looked about 1960's vintage at best.
