So i see quite a few combines are rolling now in the uk ? how’s it yielding so far ?

would be helpful to others to add some context - variety, location and areas etc maybe ?

Had FW on the phone so told them I had completed barley and it had done a disapointing 14.7T/ha at 13.5% and has all now left the farm for malting.


Anyway must dash got to finish putting the combine back together and emptying the machinery out of the grainstore…..

Mass balance my arsh- I would refuse to fill that in as it is commercially sensitive information.

Anyone asking about my yields I would refuse to tell them or just say as expected.

I recon barley will be about average, the cold spell and then the prolonged wet in may has knocked it but I can guarantee what ever mine yields there'll be others the other side of the hedge doing more

Cut 60ha yesterday afternoon about 7t on trailer weighers. On some better land today which is yielding more I think looking at telematics. Electrum malting.

Yes, started at 12 finished at 9. He does drive it like he stole it.

Acceptable losses been driving combines for 40 years! It’s a lexion 8800.

averaged over 7.5tha ,loads of straw.

There does seem to be a hell of a lot of straw for those that are bailing

Just about finished our bit. Good old Cassia looked a better sample than the new to me KWS Hawking . Cassia more straw, but it was so hot doing the Hawking that I think the straw was a bit brittle .moisture below 13%.

I’d guess both doing 3 ton acre. Cut back on N as both looked well and had pig muck under them and prefer standing barley , One thing I’ll say is how clean it all is. Non of it had any pre harvest roundup, and the stubbles are clean as a whistle .

. Only a couple of weeks ago you reckon it might be August before starting.
