With wetter back end and winter more unplanned spring stuff going in round us, again. What's the thoughts on likely changes to budgets? If you plan for WW but miss the window and end up with SB what would you expect. 2 wildy different scenarios run by me in a chat yesterday.
Without securing a top price via a contract (which isn't going to happen if organised last minute) would margins fall circa 40% or so? I seem to remeber that being a discussion from a while beack and one party yesterday was thinking similar, the other was rather more unrealistic, seeming to convince himself nothing would change despite being 400 acres of WW down, going into SB

The trick with spring cropping is treat it as an afterthought. You going to get less yield and be more prone to drought so tailor the spend accordingly. Spring wheat/barley here is seed off the heap. 1 x herb. 1 or 2 x fung and 220kg N. That’s it nothing else and the N would be cut back if it’s a drought. That’ll still achieve 2t/acre.
