I've wrapped oat feeding straw that was getting hot.
It didn't come out as sweet smelling as I thought, but was saved clean and dry.

(and a pal who had a load from the same batch put them away indoors. Things didn't go well, and there was a big row some weeks later when someone looked at what the straw was doing.)

How do tou do that ?
I saw an American device 25 years ago, which was essentially a spiked bale unroller, run on hydraulics, and they had a frame to hold wrap roll and they simply put the wrap end into the string, and started rotating the bale on the hydraulics. Used for hay mainly there. The idea was to then jam the bales tight and create a weatherproof tube....

I’ve wondered about bolting a wrap dispenser horizontally on a wall and using one of those rotating spikes to wrap the round side of straw bales. Move forward & back to cover…. Never done it yet like most other f my ideas🙄

Tried putting 2 layers on barley straw last year as the straw was baled with a fusion, won’t be doing it again. Would have possibly been better to have stacked them straight away but only 2 layers means the wrap doesn’t get a proper grip on itself or the bale to prevent the wind getting to it.
