Yamaha kodiak 400 carb

Some guy that tried to fix my carb haven't succeeded yet, and now my kodiak is still not running.. The man is quite old and has some health issues so I can't push him too hard  But finally the weather is getting better so hopefully I can go in the field for surveying within a few weeks.
Problem was that the floating pan was leaking. Found somewhere a used pan but afterwards the engine kept flooding. Went to a bike shop and the man told me it would be better to get a new, complete carb instead of keep on messing around with a 20 years old carb. He contacted yamaha netherlands but a new one was 660 euro's o_O
So I searched the internet and found original Mikuni carbs for 200 euro's approximately. Only problem is that the part numbers are slightly different. The yamaha parts catalogue has a part number 5TE-14101-00 and several mikuni dealers have 5TE-E4101-01-00. Is yamaha using their own numbers for a mikuni carb and is it a 'yamaha licensed' carb and 300% more expensive, or what is going on here?

This is a link to a mikuni dealer/seller. From the pictures everything looks exactly the same.

If the "new" float isn't leaking then it should be straightforward to stop the carb flooding.
1 Make sure the needle valve face is OK (probably a black nitrile rubber face these days).
2 Make sure the float can move freely.
3 Check by blowing through the petrol inlet that the needle valve can both pass & block flow.
4 If it leaks then polish the seat with half a cotton bud in a cordless drill & some Brasso.
5 Repeat 3 & 4 until fixed!

If it looks right and is the one listed for a 400, just buy it and stick it on there. I bought a cheap Chinese one and stuck it on my 400, it works well enough.

Worst case, if it is slightly different or doesn't run right, you may need to swap the jets over. Off the top of my head, it's the "same" carb fitted to the 350, 400 and 450.

But as above, it should be fairly easy to fix it yourself.

Aussie guy mailed back and confirmed that is a license product by Yamaha. They had to change the number slightly to make it legal for selling without Yamaha apparently.
It would be possible to fix it myself if I had enough time and patience, and had more experience with this tiny, crappy petrol stuff. Spent enough time at the bloody thing and I think all rubbers/fittings etc. are a bit worn because the bike stood still for about 10-15 years. After all I shouldn't have touched the carb. It ran well, only didn't idle very good and leaked some gas through the leaking pan.

Victory! Took the carb out and cleaned for I think a hundred times. On a American forum I read that some guy accidentally swapped the main and pilot jets. Took a good look and noticed that the smaller jet was in the biggest pipe. Changed them and it ran immediately. Think I will give the man that rebuilt the carb new glasses 🤓
