I had a shock today.

Talking to my agronomist about wheat yields, got on to the YEN stuff.

Sounds like bollix to me, pick a 5ha patch and weigh it in, reckon i could hit some pretty big yields like that. Surely it should be based on whole field, including the headlands, minimum size 5ha.

Or is that wrong?

Depends what you are intending to observe, or test, demonstrate, prove?

I think a more fun competition might be for growers to nominate a patch of their own ground.....and then for the "experts" to grow the best yielding crop of wheat on it that they could.
