torrential rain overnight rained most of day now at 82mm in 24hrs and counting ,ponds in fields ,lane washed away, buildings flooded due to the moss being washed into the roof gutters and causing mayhem .thats what you get for praying for rain ffs
No need to brag about it is there.... Including our recent 8mm we are at 20mm since early March! still, I would still rather have it dry and bright than dark and wet, neither are good for farming but the latter isn't good for the spirit either. It always amazes me the variation in rainfall on here. We are always dry and even though we were promised real rain today, sadly it didn't happen.
Since 7th March we had no rain until the end of April when we had 30 mm.
Then only 5 mm in May and we had 10 mm last week and 3 today.
So in old money less than 2" since early March in over 3 months, luckily it has been cold and so the little moisture on the heavy land and clays has kept things just growing. We do need a decent rain soon or there will not be any Hay at all.
