Totally bonkers.Well the choice seems to be lely 770 or a fella 8608 both about the same price but the fellas a bit wider, Mad to get the fella?
Would need certifying if he was going for a KroneTotally bonkers.
We bought a new vicon fanex 764 last year. Been no bother. VERY well built. Maybe slightly heavy but you can see why. Does a decent job of tedding. Only field that it left a bit lumpy was a 2nd cut field that had got too strong for the few sheep that was on it and we cut it about a week after moving sheeps off. Would recommend one highlyThinking of buying a new tedder for next year. Looked through this post but no mention of Vicon Fanex or Galfrey tedders, both of which I was considering. Anyone here any experience of these? Also Malone, new to me, who sells these near North Wales?
dont malone use hooked tines ? Perhaps they pay a fee to do soAm I right in thinking lely have a patent on the hooked tine?
Can we assume everyone will be copying when it runs out?
Thanks for that rc mx110, good to hear someones opinion, Vicon machines seem rare, hardly a one on the Agrifaires site, so thinking not popular because of performance/build.We bought a new vicon fanex 764 last year. The hooked tine patent maybe coming to an end, however the idea cane from necessity as opposed to a “light bulb” moment. Bigger diameter rotors which Lely and others adopted means that when the rotor is pitched forwards the contact at crop level is minimised due the angles involved, so a more horizontal tine overcomes that. Smaller diameter rotors with more vertical unequal length tines do just as good a spreading job. It’s all in the mind and hype.dont malone use hooked tines ? Perhaps they pay a fee to do so
A smaller 4 rotor nearly new fannex has just done its first season next door too. On the back of his mf265. He had no complaints about it that heard of eitherThanks for that rc mx110, good to hear someones opinion, Vicon machines seem rare, hardly a one on the Agrifaires site, so thinking not popular because of performance/build.

lely do different size rotors, ours has six smaller ones which I agree with you do a better job than the bigger four rotorsThe hooked tine patent maybe coming to an end, however the idea cane from necessity as opposed to a “light bulb” moment. Martin, are you saying that it doesn't matter if the rows don't fall nicely between 2 rotors? That's why I thought a 6-rotor to spread 3 10ft rows was the best match. Could you provide/pm a price for your recommended machine for this work? Was planning on a Lely, to replace aging Krone.http://www.sip.si/rotary-tedders/items/spider-815-8-hs
Just throwing a spanner in the works so to speak; SIP have been building and developing tedders for years culminating in the trialed 11 and 15m models but also offer mounted from 4.0m to 9.0m. The link above is for the 7.85 8 head model - 2 more rotors than others as they are small diameter for even pick up and spreading.
Thanks for views so far. Lely are no more so the choices for me at present are :-
Vicon Fannex 5.2m, 6 rotor, £4330
Galfrey 6.5m, 6 rotor, £5500
Malone 5.7m, 4 rotor, £6500
Whilst the Malone has the hooked tines which seem to be an advantage, it is only a 4 (larger) rotor, and, £2200 dearer than the Vicon which seems to perform well. Having had Vicon stuff for many years, performed well and well painted, I am currently drawn to the Fannex. For and against please?
Incedently, on the subject of paint, the Irish Keltec and Fleming products are very well painted with a proper primer/undercoat, but Twose are derisory.
