@DrWazzock did you cop the heavy showers this afternoon,copped a couple south of Lincoln ,got drilling again this morning,going to drill ground which was planned for S barley on the heathland now.
Raining again ,given up on drilling my lowland for now, especially looking at long range forecast.

Yes we did. Seem to cop every shower going. Clay still like wet putty. Sand would drill but too much clay about to complete any field. A dry fortnight would help.

Started drilling winter barley today, seems we have it drier than most. First year drilling winter barley with a vaddy so still learning.

Drilling beans for a neighbour. All 370 horses needed to pull clay cap! Luckily the soil is in excellent order thanks to a few years of no till

Finished all I can drill for now and used up all bought seed, so the last two fields I’d hoped to drill with wheat , can take their chance now.
If we had a real dry spell I wouldn’t rule out still drilling wheat .

My friend wanted me to a demo the bigger Deutz 6185. Could only find a small part of a field that was dry enough . Hard to believe the rest of this field is to wet to work on.

I would, but one end of the field has standing water and other parts aren’t very good . I was just playing with the subsoiler on the dry bit to try the tractor

Finished barley today so all done.pretty wet in places and close to getting stuck a few times.easier working soil but very wet and 9 inches of topsoil then straight onto brick clay.left a few places and headlands which I’ll pull a cultivator through and then leave it.

Another 80 ac in today which has got us about half way though our wheat . Will probably get about the same in tomorrow then it depends on the weather again

Well unexpectedly had the DTS putting in wheat in ex osr fields which were slightly disced around 20 th Sept after sewage cake. Also had a plough / powerharrow drill working on wheat stubbles putting in barley on some difficult ground. Was all going well( bit sticky) but no real rain forcast until Thursday evening just drizzle but yes at 4pm it started to rain steady and had to stop both outfits by 5.30 PM and still raining as I write. Late decision to go so not really until 10.45am start but managed 70 acs and pure luck both drills were finishing headlands when it rained so fields are either drilled or not.

I liked it. Seemed to have plenty of grunt and the RC shift gearbox was nice to use . The price is the scary bit
