Why the change to Charolais?

Is that what the calf buyers want? Can’t normally beat a BB for calving ease on a Holstein.

If am honest I can sell them for same money normally and I just like them to look at. Sell everything 2 months old.
When had them in the past always sold them easily and done really well but that bull is gone. But that was 10% of beef calves in fairness. Might be slightly different if everything was Charolais

We used to run ch bulls, so long as you get the right bull you'll be fine.
We sold them all as 24 month stores and they'd average streets ahead of the blues. But as stated easy calving is key

What ai angus bulls are you all using?
Why create cost and work for yourself treating downer cows?
The Charolais bull what is now no more was extremely easily calving. Easier than the blues which weren't bad either that's why I asked the question on here but it seems it isn't common because nobody has suggested a bull. Which is good in a way because now I've a definite answer and life can go on without a need to change.
Haven't got any Charolais left but blues 281
A think reading through this thread it's fairly 1 sided. Which is helpful.

I would say the same about blues though probably an extra 3/400 milk per year using angus.

get the right bull with a gestation average around 279/280 days easy calving and it's the best of both worlds, no need for extra hutches and buggering about 3/4 weeks and sell them on

I’ve got zero experience of calving Holsteins but a few dead black and white calves I’ve seen in the knacker cart look huge so I’m guessing their not that easy calving now especially with the cows being fine boned. So to me it seems silly to put a charalais on them as they’ll be massive and probably over weight by the time there fat enough. I’d say a good Limmy takes some beating
