You have to agree, there's some with cracking ears on them!
There you go then.

Does it matter when they look so pwetty?
you canāt have it all Blydi ways, push forwards your alternative AND decry people who donāt follow. There are systems where those are perfectly good sheep. Donāt agree? Tough. Think theyāre over valued? Boo hoo.
Time of month?
They're good sheep, if you ignore the chalk paste, biscuit bloom and neck trimming... but I struggle to make the figures work if I were buying them.
Absolutely fair play to anyone who can make them pay (but like Scotch Mules, I suspect most are just being bought to run on, then to be sold as gimmers next year and the actual price bought and sold for is very inconsequential)
but that makes sense to a man with a Ā£2m farm, a decent BPS cheque, needing to be actively farming and qualifying for APR. It may not be our circumstances, but it is the market in action.
Gimmers certainly look cheap in comparison

thatās a fairer indication of trade, thereās no run on buyers with them. We still get mule ewe lambs as that few months with us as opposed to on a Herefordshire farm sets them up.

Bloody dear!! Wanted 100, bought 10. Anything I wanted was Ā£150+. I'll wait till next year!
In case you missed it, the commentary has just said that gimmers are Ā£40 up on last year. That's quite a rise.
I did miss that (made a cuppa)
This is last years sale

Gimmers average Ā£180 today then?
Ewe lambs could be Ā£30 up on the year so far?
Video feed is back up again after a break. I'd say you'd need a boat to get them home with the way that rain is going.
Up and down here. Just been outside to check and the rain is on here too, but nowhere near what they have there. My feed is rubbish. I'm casting it to my TV and it keeps freezing up... and it's now just jumped to England - NZ rugby World Cup
It is hellish wet here (and there). It's nice seeing an outdoor ring but I feel sorry for them. Brings back memories of stood miserable soaked through at Kelso tup sales in the bad old days...

I see that, but still need people to be 2m apart. Masks not legally required outdoors though .
Ooh meow, get you.
I wasnāt aware that I had decried anybody. They are undoubtedly very attractive looking sheep, well turned out for the day and with sharp ears. Are you really suggesting that being so āprettyā isnāt pushing the price up at all?
From a commercial sheep flock point of view, do I think theyāre over valued? Too right they are, unless this yearās freakishly high lamb trade to date is to become the norm. Do you think thatās the case?
Very true. But there's always some complain the gimmer trade is too cheap, because ewe lambs made Ā£X...
