The lynx trust says they won’t take sheep, adults or lambs but I don’t believe them. The Norwegians thst I’ve spoken to about lynx introduction think it’s mad.

I have agood farming friend in Finland. They also have Lynx there and he thinks we are totally mad to reintroduce them. But that people who really know not some naturalist living in a town with a bright idea that knows nothing.

And the moon is made of cheese...

Seem to recall a Lynx being thought responsible for sheep killing in mid Wales a year or 3 back?

seems to suggest they are not just big pussycats!
Google “borth lynx escape”

We had a puma or something similar here back in 2003-2006, big texel ewes dragged and stuck on barbed wire fences 6-7’ from the ground. Dogs wouldn’t go through half acre patches of gorse which they’d go through every day plus loads of sitings. We phoned the police one day to explain the situation and they sent out the armed response unit and had 2 chaps walk the whole farm with MP5’s. They wernt surprised by the phone call and said they knew there were a few in west wales but they could travel serious mileage.

@Nithsdale Farmer have you been at any of the lynx trust information meetings?
I was at the one in Blair Athol last spring. The main guy, Paul, is a very intelligent guy and has obviously spent many years studying them. He was not against lethal control if the lynx started killing livestock or the population increased beyond their expectation. His wife however, was a different person to deal with and had no real knowledge, just a script to follow and couldn’t counter a debate away from that script.

Paul O'Donogue? Asin (plenty of speculation) Fallowfield on here?

I've not been at any meetings. But everything I've learned of him and his wife... I'd rather shite in my hands and clap, than trust a single word they say.

The Lynx Trust UK is very shady indeed once you start digging into it

Seems strange that there only killing the sheep and not eating them. I was under the impression wolf packs tend to hunt kill and eat when hungry. Maybe the experiment has gone wrong and produced more rogue individuals rather than solid packs? A bit like a rogue dog fox that massacres anything it gets near.

ive had posts like that on my facebook page all summer , not unusual to loose half dozen a night , a lot just look like dog attacks , not much if anything eaten , i suppose a mother training cubs could cause a lot of damage

your all missing the point , your not allowed to shoot anything , punitive fines and weight of law against you .

Not true. Lynx Trust are applying for specific licences to trial release Lynx in specific areas...

Outside of those specified areas, Lynx is still on the Dangerous Animals List

Hence why when that one escaped in Wales - was it 2 years ago? - they tried to capture it... once it was obvious that wasn't possible and it was followed heading for populated area, the police and army didn't f**k about and it was shot dead on site
