king of England was the boss?
No. King George 1st - King of Great Britain and Ireland.
king of England was the boss?
England fought for it for long enough and killed enough young boys over it in the past, so I guess it wants to keep it - crushed and under the thumb, which is more than the romans managed
He lived in Scotland ?No. King George 1st - King of Great Britain and Ireland.
It's the colonial equivalent of annexing a lemon. Like getting an artificial leg, only to find its attached the wrong way around.
Id love to see wee Jimmie krankie's face when the EU only let them join once they slash their spending to below English standards. See how the voters like that. Anyway, not in any way my problem.

Why would you love to see a nation being punished for the way some of it's people vote? It's the colonial equivalent of annexing a lemon. Like getting an artificial leg, only to find its attached the wrong way around.

Really? When was that? Last battle (Culloden, 1746) was certainly not England v Scotland but was really Scotland v Scotland. More Scots on winning (Government) side than losing (Jacobites).
Ok, I tried continuing this during the day while tractor driving which was a mistake.
I don’t see how your post makes sense as a response to my post?
My post was more about...
The Anglo-Scottish Wars (or Wars of Scottish Independence) - Historic UK
The Anglo-Scottish Wars were a series of battles between England and Scotland between 1296 and 1346, also called the Wars of Scottish Independence,www.historic-uk.com
So Scotland should be forever joined to England because of some battles between noblemen almost 1000 years ago? Sorry, but that's just silly. Plenty of Scotland wasn't even involved in the fight back then, and if the English sons were stupid enough to have their blood spilled, that's there problem. If you really want to twist history, you could argue that the Union of the Crowns means that the English are ruled by the Scots (James 6 & 1 had been ruler of Scotland for 20 years before he inherited and added England to his Kingdom).
Yes, I do remember that irony. But,no, I don’t think your first sentence at all. I would wish Scotland all the best and as I wrote on this thread, plenty of smaller countries manage just fine, so why not
Why not? Because strength comes from working and living together, and a Union that has been successful for 400+ years is worth holding on to. Sure, some of our neighbours might be out of sync with our thinking, but that's not enough to split up over.
Besides, where do you draw the border? Some parts around Berwick would have legitimate claim to be in either side of the divide, should the worst happen.
We should be taking down barriers, not putting them up.
Given that Nicola has survived the latest Tory plan to take her down a peg or two...is it time to consider devo max or federalism yet?
Why would you love to see a nation being punished for the way some of it's people vote?
That's like people saying they'd love to see the UK in trouble for leaving the EU.
To me it's just bitterness against democracy.
Or he found that there was an effective Criminal Justice System and independent Judiciary. Not my problem either.
However, I don’t understand why so many English think Scotland so much weaker than Slovakia, Slovenia, malta ...
Talking of living standards, I had a friend from Malta whose life long ambition was to move to Britain. He made it...
And returned to Malta before the second year was out. I suppose the living standards weren’t so much lower
Does that hold for the electorate? It’s an aside, but what I find particularly irritating about some politicians are their attempts to bring their opponents down over matters that aren’t in any way connected with their main political ideology. So we get constant muck raking over minor legal technicalities because they hope to find something to jam a spanner in the works. It’s the lowest form of opposition in my view when you have run out of valid or credible political vision or ideology.
Yes I don’t like particularly like Nicola Sturgeons plans but fight her policies not the woman. Show us your credible alternative and stop the petty personal attacks. Or have we lost sight of the credible alternative?
