Cripes, don't mix a graminicide with broad leaved weed control!! And definitely double don't do that on a broad leaved crop. Jebus, felt the hair stand up on my neck just thinking about that.

Sword (and similar products that aren't ALS mode of action) needs to used at the right dose and with weeds at the right size. If you suspect resistance you can collect the seeds and have them tested to find out what they are not resistant to. Being older chemistry, FOP, DIM and DEN resistance is about in many areas of the country. I've had wild oats laugh them off before. Pacifica et al may work instead. Broadway star also works on wild oats from memory.

I would have said Axial was kind to the crop, no problems. Mind the formulation/product was a bit posher than the generics seemed to be. Used to use it half rate at precisely the right time on the weeds and it worked well.

I seem to remember some teaching in the dim and very distant past about how sometimes if you sprayed one of those tillered/multi-headed oats with a hydra complex some graminicides struggle to attack all the tillers so the plant may be able to grow through them, another reason you shouldn't be trying to spray huge weeds.

If this is wheat then I would think about Broadway Star rather than Axial. A little bit more expensive but adds in a dose of BLWs and brome control as well as oats. For pure oats Topik does a good job although I have only used it in the back end

With AXIAL or TOPIK (or equivalents), be careful of using them in close sequence with hormone herbicides for broad-leaved weed control. If your wild oat control is first, wait 7 days before applying hormone herbicide. If the hormone herbicides are applied first, wait 14-21 days, depending on exact products

I am sure it says similar on the can. Be especially careful with graminicides on broad leaved crops.
