Hi all, I'm looking for the hail Mary of job offers!

I'm 29, a hard working individual with a talent for picking up a job quickly, looking to move into the farming industry. Something with livestock would be preferred, a mixed farm would be absolutely fine! No experience to speak of except for some volunteer work on a small visitors farm, but I'm willing to put in the extra time to learn, and happy to undertake courses to supplement my knowledge while on the job. Looking for full time, with accommodation, in or broadly around Essex. Great communication skills, great literacy and numeracy skills. Have experience in the motor factor industry, and IT/computer skills. Love the hands on jobs.

I also make a great cup of tea. 😁

I can be reached on here or through email on...

Taking on Agco’s tracked tractor baton for Europe, Fendt’s introduction of tracked tractors picks up from where the Challenger brand left off. James Rickard reports.

As reported, Agco decided to pull the plug on the Challenger brand in Europe and absorb all of its products into the Bavarian brand. As well as the tractors, this also includes sprayers, automatically giving Fendt a larger portfolio of equipment and also an alternative to its wheeled tractors in the process.

As in the Challenger days, Fendt’s line-up of tracked tractors includes seven models; three small framed machines from 380 to 431hp and four large framed machines from 492 to 646hp. And as before, all models are built in Agco’s Jackson plant, Minnesota, US.

Featuring new engines, a new flagship model, uprated drivelines, along with fresh model numbering and styling, it is fair to say John Deere has been busy updating its range of wide body self-propelled foragers.

Headline-grabbing news is the introduction of a new top model, which sees JD’s chopper range extend to 970hp. This puts it on the shopping list of those contractors considering large output machines for power-sapping jobs such as maize and whole crop rye harvesting.

The more powerful forager offering is also a reflection of the changing trend towards larger foragers, simply to get things done in less time, suggests John Deere.

As before, the JD forager line-up consists of a range of narrow body and a range of wide body machines. To now...

Smaller global crop in 2021/22?
Global barley production was forecast to fall in 2021/22 by the International Grains Council (IGC) in January. The IGC made this projection as part of its five year outlook to 2025/26 so few details are available. In January, the IGC projected the 2021 crop at 151.3Mt, 1.7Mt below a static demand – more on this below.

Both Stratégie Grains and RMI suggest a similar global situation in 2021/22 to the IGC. The IGC usually makes its first detailed assessment of the new season in late-April.

In the major barley exporting countries...

John Deere has announced that its Machine Sync system is now available for forage harvesters and tractors to take control during crop unloading operations.

The John Deere Machine Sync enables machines to exchange data on the move and allows combine operators to guide a tractor and trailer alongside the harvester.

John Deere said that the technology is especially useful during night-time operations and long working days.

How does it work?

The global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-based synchronisation allows combines to automatically control the speed and travel direction of tractors and trailers relative to the combine.
