Have you had a chance to get any further with this yet?

Brackets made and plated for the secondhand avadex / slug pellet applicator - fitted, access platform still yo go on but made, quite hard to get pics of while folded and job not finished yet but hopefully you get the idea

and points.............

basically I wasn't happy with the prototype we had made, its needs more thought / work and Im short of time right now so we have bought some Metcalfe points that we are adding fert tubes to

Just tacked into place in these pics but I think it should work ok, the pipe position is adjustable via the grub screw

I still think I can improve on this design though and will revisit making our own point when we have time this winter, I'm going to try removing the tungsten on a few Metcalfe points and replacing with the Ferobide tips I have so I can compare wear rates this autumn

Low disturbance !

my feet are no so small ! all a matter of perspective :(

the point s 12mm wide IIRC and now the full set are on the drill clearance looks very good so it should handle pretty reasonable amounts of trash and cover I think, certainly on a parr with a Seed Hawk or Dale I would think yet at a lot lower cost :)

I'm in the middle of a similar but different Horsch pimping exercise.

Clive, are you using check valves on the liquid fertiliser lines? If so, which ones?
I was considering 'John Guest' push on fittings and low pressure 'anti drip' check valves (plastic, not brass), until I saw the price of them :jimlad:
It might be that 'capillary action' keeps the fert in the (6mm) pipe, or it might just dribble all over the headland and take 5 yards to prime the pipes when back in work...

our fert system is standard horsch, i'm not sure what check valves they use - all I have changed on the fert system is replace the coulter end of the delivery pipes

the pipe from check valve to outlet doesn't seem to be a bit problem on our 750a - you get a bit of dribble on headlands but not enough to be concerned about, the little white connector in one of the pics above stops the drip

The previous CO4 had the factory wheel driven PPF fert kit, a complicated mix of 3/4" and 1/2" plumbing branching out like a tree, with normal jet holders/ .5 bar drip stops and hose tails in place of the nozzles. It was a pita to wash out and prime as it must have held 10 litres plus in the pipes and pump.

I like the way Cultivating Solutions plumb their OSR kit in small bore nylon from a central manifold, very neat and compact (y)

Would those points you have be similar to seedhawk

Pretty much finished the avadex applicator mounting now

All points on and seed tubes modified to mount the liquid tubes

just got to fit a modified fan guard and new distribution head feed pipe, new LED rear lights and flasher tomorrow and its ready to go

really pleased with it - especially given the low cost !

Excellent job Clive. Shows what can be done.

Thanks - I will take some better pictures of the entire thing when its outside and finished, I'm pleased with it - not totted up total but its going to be close to my budget - £1200/m ish which for a drill with liquid and seed plus adavdex / slug pellets is not bad at all IMO
