When will we be getting our fish back ? will it be soon ? :)

Will the fishermen need to buy the quota back that they cashed in?

I was reading the other day that over 90% of Welsh fish quota (which is small anyway) is actually owned by a single European trawler company, having paid good money for it.
It’s not just those pesky Europeans that have paid over to the English fishing industry either, Icelandic and Norwegian companies own a fair chunk too. Is that going to be grabbed back too?

Depends what the Buccaneers (sorry Brexiteers Johnson, Gove, Mogg, farage and the other Leave leaders et al think) Be interesting to see. Does anyone have any links to government policy on this?

Farming has been so profitable and wonderful in the EU for the last 40 years, been getting 45p for milk for decades now, holstein bull calves have been making £250 for as long as I remember and I can't recall the last time I had to fill in a form to claim some payment or grant for something- oh wait........................................................

Yep, and long may it continue👍
From my point of view, the “form filling” well, of course it’s on line now, takes less than an hour per year for a payment of circa 80k. Just sooooo arduous it’s it?

Yes, anything that was stolen will be reclaimed(y) The story of the " Brisca " is an interesting one. A Spanish trawler funded by the EU, to steal our fish. Never mind, time to take our fish back.:ROFLMAO:

It wasn’t stolen though, it was sold by our fishermen, who took cash in return. As above, Icelandic and Norwegian trawler men bought a lot too, not just those pesky Europeans with their offers of recompense.

It all looks shady to me. EU funded Spanish trawlers which are " registered " in the UK, with token local deckhands, landed in Milford, with the fish trucked back to mainland Europe. The more you look into the workings of the EU, the more disgusting it all is.
Taking back our fish. (y) And our dignity.:)

Ah yes. I remember in the good old days turning up to the bank for help with my “dignity”. Not only was he not interested in it, he also took it away 🤷‍♂️
I’ve never found it much use for paying bills either.

Get into Mozzers ASAP. They are selling Red Leicester as mature cheddar. All labelled wrong. You can eat half of it, take it back and get a nice chunk of expensive cheddar and get to keep the original as you have licked it. They even refunded me twice and paid for a taxi to replace my goods. Ace.
That is genuinely pathetic! (If even true). No wonder we farmers have a reputation of being miserable, mean old gits who begrudge even sharing air with others free of charge. I would change 'ace' to a**e'

the payment is part of the profit 🤷‍♂️
You know why agricultural support came about?
Btw - it happened in the uk too indépendant of the eu
Actually here as far as farming is concerned the BPS payment is nothing to do with the profit as its a de-coupled payment, I wouldn't know how it works over there

I think I'll give Potter a buzz tomorrow and get hold of a thousand acres of entitlements.
That will allow me to walk in, take over and start farming my neighbours land round about.
Won't it?

Fishing quotas were brought in to halt the overfishing that decimating fish stocks, much like milk quotas were brought in to calm down the over production that would have been buggering up milk prices if the EU hadn’t been propping it up with unsustainable intervention payments.

Fishing quotas have worked and fish stocks are slowly recovering so that sustainable fishing can continue. There will still be quotas & controls even when we have ‘taken back control’, and our fishermen will be able to sell them all over again.
I understand the argument is actually about what constitutes a ‘British’ trawler, in terms of where it is registered, the minimum proportion of UK crew, and the proportion of the catch that has to land at UK ports (before it is shipped to the same markets in Europe or elsewhere).
