I am intrigued by the water bowser option, my only concern is that it can’t be Road legal? It has to be a minimum of 2000 litres so surely having it braked would be useful...Not all of us farm in a ring fence so would have to meet a road at some point?!

It’s not really any use to a lot of people isn’t this grant job,

I be interested in a drill but think there’s a bit too much limitation on spec for what I want it to do. And even with the grant amount I can’t make figures add up compared to what’s on the used market.

who knows where they get their figures from, I’ve looked at the livestock grants just released and some are miles out and yet again still haven’t taken into account the huge rise in steel prices over the past 18 months, some of the figures are the same as they were 3 years ago when I got a crush on a grant, some of the items you would be lucky if you got 20% of it. Doesnt seem to stack up for a lot of items.

Pointless for me, I was hoping to get a 3m simtech drill, the simple cheap box one with no electrics, spoke to simtech in the summer and they said prices not yet decided, but at that time £25k for the poverty spec one. Had a quote for one now and it's £35k, looks like the just added the grant money to their price.

did you let the seller know you were thinking of claiming the grant . got similar going on here could buy the item now for cash or on finance but prices going up by the summer and yes youve guessed it a tad more than the grant by the time the paperwork is completed order placed following defra approval .As you say pointless, and thats without taking into account that the now purchase price is well above the grant limit,

Yes I can’t make it add up either.

better buy a used wider better spec drill for less money

I think if they are oversubscribed then the claims that have the highest scores get paid until the money runs out.

despite getting all excited about the idea in the fortnight since we looked at buying a certain machine which has been on our wish list for a while thought the grant would tip the balance in favour of going ahead. Having got to the stage of final quotes for said machine, low and behold its gone up£ in the last month(yesterdays quote) by a tad more than the grant payable so it aint happening pointless !!! wasted several hours a couple of trips and even a demo Thats without taking into consideration getting the machine in time to make use of it this growing season due to the approval system ,

Is there any news yet on when the FETF Animal Health and Welfare applications open? The bit I’m looking at still says March, but there’s always the worry that I’m looking in the wrong place and something elsewhere has been updated. Ta.
