Unforeseen consequences of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) are a concern for independent agronomists after they were briefed on the recent updates at their annual conference last week.
An interactive poll before the SFI update session revealed...
so sfi is here and it seems there are several threads where posters are asking about the possibilities of combining options/crops to leverage more money
'whats stopping me?'
'ahl2....wild bird food'....after winter wheat

Leave cover in place to provide the SAM3 from 1st March. Drill with wheat beginning of Oct.
Also either use the the grazing/silage, or in my case, probably sell the...

If you can grow 4t per acre of wheat then isn’t the carbon footprint per ton less by virtue of the fact you’ve spread the fixed part of the carbon cost in growing the crop over more tons.
This fact begs the question of what to do with marginal land. It would suggest it should be...

Keeping stock off areas...

On the face of it, madness.
However, given more thought, maybe not.
Presumably a ban would just have created a new black market, funded criminality, extra burden for customs, etc. So why not keep it under control and use the revenue for the...
