Up and down the country, hill farmers are discovering whether their local NE staff are 'rewilders' or not.
Because if they are, draconian cuts in livestock numbers are being demanded for inclusion in enviro agreements - and if you decline, they may very well force your hand.
(See the newspaper...
Assume the only way to fertiliser the grass around the solar is quad and spreader. But concerned over length of time and the tiny spreader to keep refilling over 30 acres. Obv have to be pelleted so rates etc. Want to do this all ourselves so no sub. Anyone done this on row after row...
I was always told that February nitrogen flattens crops.
RB209 recommends nothing until the start of stem extension, and not before early April, unless it has low tiller numbers.
Yet everybody else seems to start chucking it on now and their crops look strong and green where as mine look crap...
Traditionally, Labour redistributes wealth and massively increases its civil service for checks and balances.
What would you want put in place to support the production of UK food remembering that most of us like consistent prices for our budgets?

Hey folks - had some soil results and blood results come back for sheep.
Good news - blood tests all very good. Iodine was an issue but flexidine injection has definitely fixed that. Mayo 4in1 bolus is covering everything else well.
Soil results show low zinc, sodium and iodine.

I use it...
Have several fields where leys are starting to get tired, I would like to perk them up a bit.
Would prefer not to plough out, how successful would hammering with grass harrows in September and chucking seed on?
I do realize weather would be dependent.
Any downfalls?
Tia.

I would like others views on the reduction of Bps payments and the un fairness of this when Scottish farmers are seeing no change in their payments aswell as European countries. I am getting really annoyed at the lack of any union that is really standing up for us. The Nfu may as well be called...
We have been in a stewardship agreement (an old HLS and ELS scheme) for the last 10 years. That came to an end and was extended for one more year which we are now in. They have now offered to extend it for another 10 years. Has anyone else got this situation? Not sure really what’s best to do...
