Winter hybrid rye SU Arvid posts excellent harvest results for Norfolk grower seeking higher gas yielding variety for AD contract
Of the 50,000ha of hybrid rye currently grown in the UK, wholecrop for biogas production is still the biggest single market, accounting for around half the UK crop...
Hello All.
Looking to put in a ley of 100% timothy to grow for the equine market. Will be baled in small bales hopefully get 6/7 quid a bale - thats the plan anyway. Just looking to see if anybody on here has already done this (nobody round me has which is partially why im looking to!) and if...
We put some in 2yrs ago, managed with cutting and sheep with good rest periods and not over grazing or cutting too low.
Most of the herbal part has vanished.
Ground has received a light dose of fym and 80kg ha of N. White cover looks well so does the rye grass but even the Timothy and...
I’m looking at possibly purchasing a direct drill for rejuvenating grassland and will probably do some contract work with it, I was just wondering what the going rate per acre is. Like the roundbaling thread on here I expect there will be significant variations, would be nice to try and get a...

Does anyone get any problems with going grass to grass reseed? Any advice on making sure it is successful. We put in stubble turnips last winter then reseeded this spring, worked well but would like to do more this year but have no real use for the extra break crop, we didn't spray last year but...

My Lexion 560 is pretty much on its limit capacity wise especially in a year like this!
So while it’s raining (again) I was browsing the internet looking at bigger combines and found a Lexion 600+ TT that’s not a million miles away and isn’t silly money but it’s got around 2000 drum hours on it...

I’ve a bit of stalky rye grass.
Dried off ewes on it which worked well for them and they learnt to eat the seed heads.
We’ve now had 46mm of rain in last 11 days which is a bit of a shock to the system for us in a dry bit of Devon.
It’s flushing up green in the base of the crop now and...

I have joined the ACRES environmental scheme and one of the options that I have picked is arable fallow in which I have to establish a cover crop, that I can graze after 1st January. This area is fixed to the same area for 5 years.
So would it be a problem if I grew continuous brassicas or what...
What have I done wrong? Sprayed 1l/ha of oskar/foxtrot at 200l/ha volume in winter wheat at gs 37 on Monday 8th of May.The wild oats have shrugged it off since and growing away. I can only assume I should have sprayed at 1.2l/ha. Didn't want to go earlier as I wanted to get any spring wild oats...
We're likely to start lifting wholecrop within the next ten days, which is about 3 weeks earlier than normal due to the very dry weather here over the last few weeks. We'll be sowing hybrid rye in late Sept/early October but it seems a bit of a waste to lave the field bare for 3 months.
Any...
