This could be called “Fakin Bacon”...

Have read on here that vets are saying that a lot of ewes are low in calcium this year. Was getting on great here with not a single prolapse a week into lambing however today have had to put harnesses on 4 ewes. Also this morning had two ewes with dead pairs as ewes not opened up properly. Not a...
Just bought a new bull, chosen partly because of a quiet, nice temperament. Unfortunately it became pretty clear that he wasn’t a well chap and in his first few days on the farm he’s had the vet out to him, resulting in antibiotic jab ( with us having to give him 2 more doses) and today he had...

Now, how does one go about valuing the crop, he was proposing to buy it as a standing crop on a £/ac basis...
Anyone care to share any ingenious ideas / designs for achieving the above? Could buy a narrow bucket for ~ £700 but the capacity is small necessitating lots of scoops or could buy a bag / hopper filling bucket but inevitably expensive ~ £3,000?? Any simple / safe / reliable designs for adapting...
To try and push them on on a semi-intensive beef system... usually we would feed an ad-lib rearer nut, but this year it is crucifyingly expensive, would just feeding rolled barley and silage work ok though a wagon?
Also, would ad-lib barley and hay be ok or is that too gung ho? What if barley...
Currently buying all kinds of cattle from the market. Currently feeding a 16% protein nut with straw and silage. What are other people feeding this kind of cattle? Im not interested in mixer wagons and that kind of stuff because I don’t have one. I’m taking about a feed that can be blown into a...
I presume that as far as the consumer is concerned, the term ''Pasture-For-Life'' infers that beef cattle have been grazed on grass for life.
Does it exist, or is it just a figment of someone's vivid imagination?
Normally get offered stock feed potatoes in May, we take them and mix with silage and clamp them which has worked well the last couple years. I am contemplating keeping back my tail end of yearling stores to graze and hang up in October/November. I’d prefer to feed them tatties near enough all...
