1970 MF 135 UK original paint colours

I am soon getting my 135 painted and I am wondering what the proper paint colours are for each part. More concerned about which grey, but wondering if the MF Red is better or Super Red?

Not sure if paint brand matters, I’m in Eastern Canada.

Here are some pics, the red isn’t the original paint but the rest is, I believe. I am also not 100% certain if the red on the rear wheels was always red or if that was done when it was painted in the 80s.

If its a Coventry built tractor, it would have been Stoneleigh grey and as for the red, well they were just red ( if they were lucky ). Sure there was only one red when they were built. In the early 1970's some of the red paintwork on new tractors was shocking, as long as they looked red it was good enough.

Ford Radiant red is probably one o the nicest reds, I did my 35 in that and it's often commented on. When I used to work for a restoration company (top end cars) we used to do most of the Ferrari's in ford radiant red, it is also pretty much spot on for the Ducatti red too.

Black top grill

Black and silver lower grill

Mf Red tin work and seat (there is so many makers of mf red that its tricky to suggest who is right anymore I just stick with the hmg brand which I'm happy with

Stoneleigh grey chassis Inc starter n dynamo!

White sand texture exhaust but really they're aluminium type sprayed coarse finish again there was various finishes throughout production

Black steering wheel

Zinc plated with yellow passivate quadrant guides check chains response plate and various other metal to metal items and wheel nuts

Wheels, chin and side cheek panels silver mist red centers were upto sept 67 I think off the top of my head ( I stand to be corrected....)

Chrome hand throttle bonnet catches and grill screw

How critical is it to get an early starting leaky seal on a rear axle dealt with before painting ?

Do it before you paint unless your not to bothered about chipping all the paint when it's painted
But the oil can leak into your brakes which may mean you then need a front grill and bonnet repairs.... if the worse should happen

The seals are easy to do just do them then it's done

What’s the general consensus on clear coat? Yay or nay
If you’re going to paint it; may as well make it look as nice as possible so yes. Whether to paint or leave original is a whole other question; but to maximise value of a painted tractor compared to original you would have to go to town on it.

I am getting ready to paint this tractor (see photos in original post) and trying to get the Sherwin Williams colours, and what is confusing me is that, this is the UK model, and you guys say the chassis etc is Stoneleigh Grey, but when I look at it, it looks like it's the same colour as the wheels etc, and the grey is original paint.........also, is Stoneleigh Grey and MF Charcoal gray the same?

I would say, super red, Stoneleigh grey and silver mist but @twocylinder will know for sure.
Stoneleigh grey and charcoal grey are completely different.

It's confusing because when I look at this, the Stoneleigh seems very similar to Charcoal Gray, and either way it is much darker than what is originally on my tractor...I feel like Flint Gray is more like what I see on other 135's that have been repainted, unless in Canada we aren't getting the right Stoneleigh....?
